Ephesians 3:16-18

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your
hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is (Ephesians 3:16-18).

Thankful for This Little Town

I said I would never come back!  I left for college and intended to move anywhere but here after graduation.  You are moving us where God?  That small town? Really!  The hubs said he would NEVER move to "that town."  It can't be an option. What does that town have to offer?  I mean I am thankful I will be closer to my family, but I don't want to raise children in that small town! Okay, I was a little more than thankful to know I would be closer to family, because family holds a special place in my heart, but I really did not want to raise children here. Growing up in this area I got into trouble.  I wasn't a terrible teen, but I had my moments.  Why in the world would the Lord bring me back?  I did not know the reasons then, but I am learning the reasons.  I have one billion reasons why this small town is exactly where we need to be in this stage of our lives! I will give a few things I am thankful for regarding this little town.
We serve a High King whose plans are better than ours! I am thankful He holds our future and thus thankful He moved us to a small place that seems insignificant to many people.
Our church that appears small on the outside, and you may pass without ever giving another thought, is anything but small! I am so thankful for what the walls of this small church hold!  A congregation who attempts to seek the Lord daily with heart, mind, and soul!

The family God placed me in as a child lives close enough to care for me when I am sick and take me to doctors visits!
When my nephew has transfusion we live close enough to drop what we are doing to see him.  His story will be blogged about soon!
Although I don't see my siblings as much as I would like, I now live closer to them.  This is an old picture, but it captures a wonderful moment!

Children who are neither ours by birth or adoption love us enough to walk up to us and ask, "Will you pray for me?" and they pray for us with innocent hearts!
In this town there is a group of women who pray without ceasing! They are fun and they are transparent!
We have a family of believers who encourage us and pick us up when we are down!
The Lord is using a small group in a small town where I grew up!  Who knew? He knew!
My husband and I have grown closer to our Savior!
I am thankful for a little move back to a little town that continues to make a huge impact in our lives!  If our will would have prevailed there is no telling what path our lives would be taking now, but because His will prevailed (continues to prevail) and we moved God is doing great things in our lives.  We do not deserve the blessing being poured out on us, but He is faithful!  We listened when it was hard and I pray we continue to listen. I would be lying if I said I didn't want endometriosis and other ailments to go away.  I would be lying if I said I didn't want a baby, but ultimately I know His plans are WAY better for our lives.  I believe He can heal and I believe He can speak a word and a baby will be placed in our arms, but whether it happens or not we will choose to praise Him, for He is good and His love endures forever!

Father,
I thank you because you have declared"My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts"(Isiah 55:8-9).  I do have many plans in my heart, but I pray Your purpose would continue to prevail. Give us the desires of Your heart for our lives.  Although at times it may be painful, because the flesh is selfish, I pray we continue to seek your will.  You know the desires of my husbands heart and the desires of my heart and I pray our desires would line up with Your desires. Even when times are tough we continue to say, "Thank You!"  Praising You when praise is hard.  Please give us your perspective and when You bless us allow us to bless others.  Let us never forget where the blessings come from. Let us never make idols of our blessings.  Thank You for the blood of Jesus that heals.  Thank you Savior for being selfless and giving the ultimate sacrifice.  You understand my pain.  We will not suffer in vain.

I, too, felt that way after moving to the big city to go to college. I laughed when God pointed us back to a smaller town right beside that town that I said I would NEVER move back too!! Thanks for sharing your story - it is always nice to know that others have felt the same way.

It sounds like your little town is ideal. Funny how we can see it so differently through our adult eyes than when we were kids. I'm glad you have such a great community and family there for you. :)

It's amazing how the Lord knows what we need, before we even know that we need it!
