Ephesians 3:16-18

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your
hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is (Ephesians 3:16-18).

Memommy's Corn Bread

I actually did not realize this recipe was handed down from my grandmother until recently.  My Aunt has made this corn bread for so long that I just assumed it was her recipe.  I absolutely LOVE this corn bread and since I have been cooking more for the family, I decided it was time to learn to make this delicious stuff!

Lord Awaken Me

I have decided to read through Revelation.  As I child I can remember being afraid of reading this book.  I am not really sure why I was afraid.  Maybe someone told me to be or maybe I was frightened when I read about a sharp two edged sword that was seen when Jesus spoke.  It is a beautiful book and that two edge sword is wonderful because it is the word of God.

As I was reading I had to stop on chapter three, which says:

The Message to the Church in Sardis

“Write this letter to the angel[a] of the church in Sardis. This is the message from the one who has the sevenfold Spirit[b] of God and the seven stars:
“I know all the things you do, and that you have a reputation for being alive—but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God. Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don’t wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief.
“Yet there are some in the church in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes with evil. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.
“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.

This letter caused conviction that could not be ignored.  I haven't written my prayers in a long time, but today I had to write them down.  I wanted to remember January 8, 2014, and the conviction this letter brought.  With conviction comes repentance and repentance is another beautiful thing created by God.

I won't blog my prayer today, because I don't feel led to share, but I have had a lot of conviction about doing meaningless things with my time here on earth.  Life is but a vapor.  Although, the things I am consumed with are not bad, they do take away time I could be spending with God.  In the words of Matt Chandler, "they are morally neutral things that are not beneficial."  Watching television is not bad, but it also isn't beneficial.  Spending hours in cyber space looking at cooking blogs or catching up on instagram isn't bad, but it isn't beneficial.  I want to be intentional with my time.  I want to spend time teaching my daughter things of the Lord.  I want to play silly board games with my family and thank God for the time we have to play those silly games together.  Our purpose in life is to know and glorify God.  We are to teach the gospel to ourselves and others.  I hope and pray with each passing day, I will stop allowing so much of my day to be controlled by meaningless things.  I do not want to be "dead" in spirit, but I want to be filled with life!
